Question about lady cameo jewelry?

im trying to figure out something about this one type of jewelry. i think its called lady cameo, its usually a pendant with a blue background and a side profile of a victorian lady and thats all carved out of something white, maybe shell? anyways i was wondering if you guys knew what the blue material and/or the white material is?
