Putting a V8 in a land rover ?

I'm thinking of buying a lightweight land rover (series 3) and putting in a V8 or V6 rover engine. How much do these engine blocks cost second hand and what adapter parts would I need ? Also how many mpg will it be achieving? Thanks in advance.
